Today I'm writing about a simple "how to" for an everyday makeup look that is trending this season. Using highlighter in your makeup routine is something that has been trending for a while, but in 2017 it is picking up even more popularity. I'm ditching the contouring and full coverage makeup look for a simple clean natural look.
Check out the steps below for an easy everyday makeup look that leaves you looking refreshed and glowing!
This is THE most important step. After you shower, make sure to moisturize. I use First Aid Beauty Moisturizer right after I shower and Shiseido Sleeping Mask at night. No matter what the makeup you use, it won't work well with dry or flakey skin so a good moisturizer is key.
I know that a lot of blogs focus on full coverage when using a blender like this one but I like to use it as a way to blend a minimum amount of concealer in for a maximum effect. I only put my liquid foundation under my eye and on any blemishes I have, typically around my cheek bones and chin area. I most often use Estee Lauder foundation. It goes on super light and has a flawless finish so its perfect for a natural makeup look.
Next to moisturizer, brows are the lifeblood of a perfected natural look. I know lots of people that often shy away from using a brow product because they are intimidated by it or think their brows will look overdone. You don't have to use eyebrow makeup just to get Cara Delevingne eyebrows. Eyebrow makeup can be done subtlely just to fill in spaces that may be missing hair, add a little bit more shape, or create symmetry.
I use brow products to fill in my brows due to over plucking in my teens. My brows are also a little asymmetrical so I like to balance them out.
When I first started filling in my brows I used the Brow wiz because it is almost impossible to over fill your brows with this pencil. After a couple times of purchasing the brow wiz I took a step up to getting a brow brush and Anastasia beverly hills brow pomade. Using a brow brush takes a little more skill but it's definitely worth it if you do your brows everyday because the product lasts much longer than the brow wiz.
I used to never use lipstick or liner because I just felt I didn't need it or it didn't look good on me. This was because I kept trying to pull off the Taylor Swift classic red lip, but realized that look isn't for everyone.
When you're a beginner in lipstick it's best to start gradually when experimenting with new colors. you can also buy Deluxe samples and lip kits for half the price of a full stick of lipstick before you decide to fully commit to a product.
Highlighters are trending so much this year because who doesn't want naturally dewey glowing skin? I received Marc Jacobs Coconut Glow Highlighter as a gift in order to test and review the product. I loved the product so much that it inspired me to do this blog post. This product is super pigmented and has a great coconut scent. Other than this highlighter, I would also recommend Benefit cosmetics High Beam. Benefit's highlighter is a little bit more subtle so its a good product for people just starting out. But both products are perfect to get the job done!
BLEND. Squeeze a small amount of highlighter onto the blender and dot the highlighter on your cheek bones and up to your temples and brow bone. Use your blender and continue to pat in the highligher to get an even coverage. once well blended, dot the blender on the tip of your nose, chin and forehead for a touch of light in those areas.
Tip: I like to blend the highlighter on my cheekbones to my under eye, this is a personal preference and also has to do with my bone structure. I feel that when I do this, it makes the bags under my eyes a little less noticeable.
